The legendary "Black Widow" in a brand new automobile series from COBI! As a technically sophisticated set in large scale of 1:12 and 38 cm in length, the Opel Rekord C sports car appears under the original licence of the Opel brand. The set was designed with 2,300 elements and is characterised by the use of a large number of exclusively high-quality prints! We have completely dispensed with stickers. Especially for the requirements of such large sets, new elements were developed that offer additional functionalities: movable steering wheel, for rotating wheels, hinges for opening doors, body and trim elements. Under the bonnet, there is an engine built out of terminal blocks. Numerous details such as door handles, lighting and clocks form a harmonious whole with the perfectly recreated characteristic shape of this vehicle.
The Limited Edition of the car has the starting number 41 printed on the body. The upcoming star in motorsport at the time, future F1 driver Niki Lauda drove this version. The set also includes an exclusive black building block base. The car looks even better on it. The stand has a laser engraved plate with the name of the set and an individual limited edition number. A paper certificate with the handwritten signature of the president of the COBI company also has an individual number corresponding to the block plate!
The model is perfect for collectors and lovers of classic cars. Clear and intuitive instructions guiding through the steps and building blocks packed in numbered bags make for a smooth and easy building process.
Opel is a German manufacturer of passenger cars, sports cars and vans that have left a lasting mark on the history of the automotive industry thanks to many successful models. A groundbreaking car for Opel, which exceeded one million units produced for the first time in the mid-size segment, was the REKORD. The most famous Opel Rekord "Black Widow" was produced in secret! As part of the General Motors group, Opel was excluded from racing. Nevertheless, factory workers prepared a sports version of the Rekord with a 180 hp engine. Thanks to the yellow applications on black paint, it was nicknamed "Race Taxi" and "Black Widow". The car became a sensation and took part in spectacular races. Due to bans by GM management, the car was taken to Austria, where all traces of the car were lost. Now, thanks to COBI building blocks, the automotive legend returns in a unique collector's edition!
