Highlights:
- The Victoria was a carrack or nao with three masts, all of which were still in one piece: The foremast and main mast were each fitted with two square sails, while the mizzen mast was fitted with a lateen sail. This historic type of ship was developed by the Portuguese and Spanish over a long period of time.
- The Nao Victoria was part of the “Magallan fleet”, which consisted of 5 ships and left Spain with 245 men on September 20, 1519 with the aim of reaching the Spice Islands (Moluccas).
