The VOUGHT AU-1 ™ CorsairŪ is a US Navy fighter aircraft. It was manufactured by Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft in the years 1942-1952. The popular "Corsair" entered service in 1942. The characteristic shape of the broken wings, the cockpit that could be moved to the rear and the propeller with a diameter of over 4 metres made it impossible to confuse it with any other aircraft. The long building phase of the ever-improving Corsairs began to come to an end with the advent of the jet aircraft. The Corsair took an active part in the Korean War, where it no longer played an important role as a combat aircraft, but performed very well as a support aircraft. From 1952, Corsair entered the US Navy with the symbol AU-1. The letter "A" in the name meant support aircraft. The aircraft were armed with four 20 mm cannons mounted on the wings. A novelty were the hooks for hanging missiles and bombs. Corsair could carry about 1,815 kg of combat cargo.
The set was developed under licence from the American mega-technology and defence company Northrop Grumman. One set of the AU-1 ™ CorsairŪ contains 330 parts and one pilot figure. The fighter plane model from COBI was developed with attention to detail.
The aircraft has a movable propeller and ailerons. The rotating wheels with rubber tyres can be lifted out of the landing gear in take-off or landing position. The wings are folded in a characteristic way for this aircraft. You can attach rockets with block hooks. The cockpit can be opened to place a pilot figure at the controls. The plane has been covered with high quality prints that will not wear out even with intensive play. Stickers are completely omitted in this set. The prints reflect the likeness and equipment of the aircraft from the Korean War era.
The set also includes a special stand that makes the presentation of the model even more attractive and a building block with the name of the aircraft.
